Patchwork QAL - June

I'm loving this cute block - these are the June blocks for FQS's QAL.  The name of the block is Round the Corner block.

Just love using scraps for these blocks.

Here are all my blocks so far, minus one shy one who must be hiding in my sewing space somewhere.....

You can find the pattern for this month's block and prior month's at the Jolly Jabber blog.

Patchwork QAL - May

I'm loving these cute blocks - these are the May blocks for FQS's QAL.  The name of the block is Homestead.

I've be using up my Bonnie and Camille fabric scraps for this QAL.  This block was a fun one!

I need to do a group shot with all the blocks together - here is a shot of some of them.  They are so much fun to take out and play with.

You can find the pattern for this month's block and prior month's at the Patchwork QAL page!

Patchwork QAL - April

Fat Quarter Shop sponsors a QAL every year benefiting a charity organization.  For 2017, it is the Make a Wish Foundation.

I love participating in this one and am using scraps from Bonnie and Camille.

Using scraps means you get to revisit old quilt memories.  This red fabric in this very first block was part of the Votes for Women quilt I made (designed by Barbara Brackman).  My quilt was called New Jersey and gifted to my mom.  (See that quilt here).

This block is called Star and Cross.  You can find the pattern and information on the QAL here.

Here are all six of my blocks

Little blocks are loads of fun to make.  4 months in means I've got 24 blocks so far - here are the other 18.

Patchwork QAL - March

Fat Quarter Shop sponsors a QAL every year benefiting a charity organization.  For 2017, it is the Make a Wish Foundation.

I love participating in this one and am using scraps from Bonnie and Camille.

Using scraps means you get to revisit old quilt memories.  This red fabric in this very first block was part of the Votes for Women quilt I made (designed by Barbara Brackman).  My quilt was called New Jersey and gifted to my mom.  (See that quilt here).

Block is called Box-in-a-Box.   You can find the pattern and information on the QAL here.

Here are all my March blocks - heavy on the red this time!

You make six (6) 5'' blocks each month.  Look at this pile of 18 cuties!

Diamond Panes

Have 6 more fun blocks to share, all made from scraps.

These blocks are tiny - 5 1/2'' unfinished!  They are the perfect project for my scraps of Bonnie and Camille.

The pattern is available for Diamond Panes and also see more information on the Patchwork QAL from Fat Quarter Shop.

I'm looking for a project that can help me use up scraps and am happy to be sewing along for this one!

Patchwork QAL - January blocks

Each year, Fat Quarter Shop hosts a charity based QAL.  For 2017, donations for the patterns benefit the Make A Wish foundation.

Patchwork is this year's QAL.  (Pattern and more information available here.)

The block for January is called Souvenir of Friendship and is 5 1/2 '' (unfinished).  I am using my scraps from various Bonnie and Camille lines for this quilt.

These blocks were fun and easy to put together.

I've also joined up for the Fat Quarter Shop sponsored Bella Basics QAL - see my post on that wonderful skill builder quilt.

Bonnie Mystery Update

Are you doing this year's Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt?  It is called En-Provence and was inspired by a trip to France.

Here are my blocks through clue 5.  I eagerly await tomorrow's post for the next clue!

We've not yet used two of the fabrics (my teal and gold) so I imagine I'll be cutting into these for clue 6 this weekend.

Here are the fabrics I am using:

  • Moda Valley Teal Creosote
  • Modern Textures in Brick
  • Moda Valley Desert Bloom
  • Moda Bella Suede in Blue
  • Moda Welcome Fall Leaf Lines in Cream

I'll be linking up here!

Are you a fan of mystery QALs?  Check out the Fat Quarter Shop Designer 2017 mystery BOM.  Fat Quarter Shop is always so generous with their fabric with the BOM kit that you'll have enough for the quilt and some leftover for your stash!

Bonnie mystery week 3

Enjoying this years Bonnie Hunter mystery En-Provence

This is the clue for week 3.  I made roughly 40 of these cute 4-patch blocks.  I am aiming for a smaller quilt than what Bonnie's pattern calls for so I make a bunch of each block so I'm ready for the reveal and then make additional blocks as needed.

(The darker fabric looks black in this photo but is actually navy blue.  The photo at the end of this post shows it more true to color.)

These blocks join the week 2 clue.  Week 1 involved background colors and I'm holding off on that for a bit so I can decide how scrappy I might want to go with my background.

My fabrics are Moda Valley Teal Cresoote, Modern Textures in Brick. Moda Valley Desert Bloom, Moda Bella Suede in Blue and Moda Welcome Fall Leaf Lines in Cream.

I'll be linking up here and anxiously awaiting our next clue!

Harry Potter Block

Soma @ Whims and Fancies has designed a mystery Harry Potter QAL.  You can read more about it here.

She has released 8 blocks so far and I've completed one and am almost done with the other.  Picking out my fabrics takes me awhile.

This is Crookshanks

I've got The Time Turner almost done but working on some Christmas gifts is taking priority right now.

I'll be linking up here.

The 2016 Bonnie Mystery

Are you doing this year's Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt?  It is called En-Provence and was inspired by a trip to France.

Here are the fabrics I will be using:

I switched up the purple for blues.  Love, love these fabrics.  They are:

  • Moda Valley Teal Cresoote
  • Modern Textures in Brick
  • Moda Valley Desert Bloom
  • Moda Bella Suede in Blue
  • Moda Welcome Fall Leaf Lines in Cream

This is my 5th time participating in her mystery event and it is always fun.  Typically I make about 1/4 of the units each week and then make more as needed once the reveal happens.

I made these week 2 units using the paper piecing template Bonnie provided. The paper piecing made for accurate blocks.

I'll be linking up here.

Are you joining in this year?
