Hello Sweetie - Blogger's Quilt Festival Entry

I am excited to enter Hello Sweetie into Blogger's Quilt Festival in the large quilt category.

Hello Sweetie was my first quilt finish using paper piecing.  The blocks came from the Dr Who paper piecing quilt along.  I decided on the final setting because I wanted the blocks to float across the quilt.

Fall 2014 BQF ButtonI have this hanging in our bonus room where I can see it from my sewing corner.  I put the Weeping Angel on the edge so she is looking towards the corner of the room where the dust bunnies live.  The fish tank right below her should be safe - fish don't have eye lids and therefore can't blink!

I really went to town in the quilting I did on the individual blocks and had so much fun!   Here is Gallifrey:

The Dalek (my favorite villein)

and the Hello Sweetie block itself.

I so much enjoyed sharing my quilt as part of the virtual quilt show.  Any other Doctor Who fans out there?  Who is your favorite doctor?

Please enjoy the other quilts in the festival.  I've also entered a quilt into the Original Design Category.    (my blog post)

Happy Stitching!

  2. I love your flying geese quilt on your email newsletter. I was totally freaked out by daleks when the show began in the 60's and I still can't deal with daleks.

  3. These blocks are so fun! You chose really great fabrics for this quilt, and the quilting really compliments everything. I keep wanting to make one of the weeping angel blocks...one of these days I'll get to it.

  6. Wonderful quilt! I'm so glad the Doctor has inspired so many great quilts! My fave was #4. I like the new ones too, but Tom Baker was the best. Who is the quilt for?

  8. Good thinking on the Weeping Angel facing the fish - I'm not sure I could put an angel in my house. I'd definitely be freaked out! Great quilt! And I love the crack in the universe underneath the WHO :)
