Farmer's Wife 1930's - Mary Gray (60) & May (61)

Tough week for blocks this week.  I really didn't like the first attempt at either.  I remade May and still intend to remake Mary to change up the color.

Mary Gray (60) - not liking this block at all.  I thought I'd use some green since I hadn't done so in awhile but not at all happy with this.  I may redo this one from scratch - or just unpick stitches and replace the green with more of the brown.  What do you think?

May (61) - This is a second remake of the block.  The original pattern called for two many y seams and my final block wasn't pretty.  I redrew this in EQ7 to avoid the y seams.  Things didn't match up as well as I would like but this one is a keeper!

I put together a pinterest board of just my Farmer's Wife blocks so I can get a good look at them all at once.  Time to start focusing on the right variety of fabric combinations.

Interested in playing along?  These are from the book -   Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt and there are two great quilt alongs with plenty of tips and ideas.  VeryKerryBerry  is doing the blocks in numerical order while Gnome Angel is doing them in order from easiest to hardest.

My fabrics are from Moda Fig Tree.  There are so many different versions underway right now - so much inspiration out there!

Happy Stitching!
