My first attempt at EPP

Fat Quarter Shop recently hosted a English paper piecing (EPP) sew along on Instagram.  (#fatquartershop #eppsewalong).

I have always enjoyed seeing people make something with hexis.  I am in awe by this quilt from the blog Den syende himmel.   5,200 hexigons!  It is amazing to watch her progress.

This was the first time I actually tried to any EPP.  Although I didn't quite know what I was doing, it was great fun.  I used thread - not glue - to sew the fabric to the paper.  Loved having a hand work project to do while watching tv.

I've removed most of the paper pieces from the back.  I need to finish that and sew it to background fabric.  That will take a lot of pins and patience.  Any tips for me on this?

The fabric came from a charm pack of a Moda Kate Spain fabric line.  I bought my EPP here at Fat Quarter Shop (of course!)

Happy Stitching!

  1. Welcome to the great fun of EPP. You've made a beautiful start, and you may go different ways from here. You can applique it to a background, just stop as it is or sew more pieces to it before you square it up. Thanks for the link to my blog. As you can see, I'm already hooked on hexies.
