Happy Birthday my sweet daughter

My daughter turned 19 this past weekend.

Wow.

The weather here in NC was warm enough to go on a picnic together and a walk in a local park.

We had dinner in her favorite restaurant.

And my youngest made her sister a chocolate cake.

I made her a mini quilt using my Everyday Love pattern.  It will hang in her room.

My lovely daughter has Down syndrome.  Her excitement about her birthday and, really, about lots of things in life makes me happy.  I blogged some more about her 2 years ago in this post.

Happy Stitching!

  3. Congratulations on your daughter turning 19. I have a son with special needs, and while I thought things were hard when he was young, I think they've gotten harder now. Why? He lives in his own place with staff, always issues there even if it's just his perception of what has happened. He has a part-time job, he's had the same job for 6 years and is praised highly by his supervisors because he works quickly, does what he's told, and is liked by his co-workers, except the one who hits him, and other things too numerous to mention, and is smart enough to do it when nobody is watching. In spite of those things, he loves to work. In the summer my son works for a special needs park board program in the summer. He used to attend, then he volunteered as a counselor. A couple of years later, he was actually hired to be a counselor. Yet, there are always problems of some sort, Mostly though, it's good. You have a lot to look forward to.
