Sunburst

Introducing Sunburst - my entry into the Sunrise Sunset Kona blog hop.

Isn't this a fantastic explosion of color?  What fun it was to play with all the bright squares of sunlight.   I took these pictures in the early morning light on the last day of 2013.

This is an original design.  I did a spiral using my walking foot to quilt it.

The back of the quilt gives away how I captured these photos.  You'll see I put hanging triangles in each of the 4 corners so I've options how to hang it.

Gotta love the spiral - takes a lot of time but so worth it in the end.

To make my Sunburst quilt, I used a single charm pack of Kona and a half yard of gray.   The charms were cut into 2 inch pieces for the squares and 2 1/2 inch pieces to make the HST along the edge of the star.

Now grab your tea and join me in visiting the other talented ladies I have the privilege of sharing today with!

My thanks for Mdmn Samm and Carol for hosting what is sure to be another FUN hop!  The full schedule is here.

Happy Stitching!

  7. I love that you put hanging corners on all four corners of the quilt since the color arrangement could make this quilt take on a new character each way that it is turned. And, I LOVE spiral quilting. I haven't gotten brave enough to do it myself, but I admire it whenever I see it on other's quilts.
