Seaglass - Need your help on border decisions!

I am working on border options for my quilt Seaglass.  The blocks are from the 2012 In Color Order HST BOM I really like the look of the blocks all set together but I want ithe quilt to be bigger.

To grow the from its current size (36 x 48) to desired size (48 x 60), I made a bunch more HST and then assembled this block:

This is where I need your help.  Which layout do you like best?

Choice 1: The Letter M  (not to be confused with a W - see the bottom row)

Choice 2:  Big Diamonds

Choice 3:  Big W  (not to be confused with the M, again see the bottom row)

Choice 4: All mixed up.  Border, what border?

Choice 5: Around the edge.

The last one is my current favorite.  What do you think?

Happy Stitching!

  1. Great quilt I love the colours. My choice would be the Letter M.

  2. Love the colors. How about putting in a narrow border--1" to 2"--- first of the darker color or colors to contain the center arrangement of blocks? Then add the last border arrangement. You would have to throw in a little extra white as spacers to make it all fit on the outer one.

  3. I'm with you, I think the last one is the best option. Les taxing on the eyes I think!

  4. I agree with you, the last one but maybe with a solid breather border between to calm it a bit?

  5. Wonderful colors! My choice would be #3, the W. It feels like it points to the edge and finishes the quilt. I like #5, but it creates so much movement that it takes away from the beauty of the blocks... just my opinion, though. I'm sure that any way you finish it will look lovely!

  6. Sandy I too like the M. It seems to point to the blocks without making it look too busy. The Diamonds and mixed up just make it confusing to me, not sure where to rest my eyes. The last one makes me look at the border first and then my eyes go around the blocks before I look at the blocks. JMHO! I love the blocks and blue is one of my favorite colors. LOVE it!

  13. My preference would be the last choice. I do think that a small solid border would give the eye a nice resting place before the border. Just my thought. :) Great colors!
Enjoy the rest of your week!
