Mug Rug Dilemma

I'm down to just scraps from my Sunkissed layer cake but did manage to make some mug rugs.

Here it is auditioning to be a flower rug.
Or sneaking into a Easter basket.  (This cute chocolate bunny bank is from Target.)
A closeup of my second mug rug.  In this one I am 3/4 through the binding before I discovered a problem.

Looks good from that side, right?  Well,  look at the reverse side:

Exactly how I managed not to notice that I hadn't trimmed it correctly through machine sewing the binding on the front and then sewing 3/4 of it by hand I do not know.

Can't decide how to recover.  Pull the binding off?  Or perhaps make a very big label for a small mug rug.

Ooops.

Happy Stitching!

  1. lol ... oh the issues we make for ourselves :) either leave it as 'creative genius" or add a bit of fusible web to the back of a few scraps, wonky those suckers in a patchwork style layout and then finish your binding ... make it look like you did it on purpose. It's your mug rug, for petes sake :) Adorable, and every time you look at it you can always have a good chuckle!

  2. Don't sweat it, it's the back! No one is going to notice. They look fab from the front

  3. I would go with the big label. Or the suggestion by Wendy of fusing a few scraps is good too. The mug rug looks beautiful!!

  4. I like the idea of a VERY big label! Remember "finished is better than perfet!"
