Quilting along!

Bonnie posted the final set of clues for the Easy Street mystery.  I am making a smaller version of the quilt - 1/4 of the blocks so I'll need just one of this center block.

And four of these blocks:

The quilt is set on point so I am working on piecing all the triangles that will be required to fill in all those gaps.  I hope to make some more progress this weekend on the remaining blocks.

I also made this weeks block for Barbara Brackman's Grandmother's Choice block called Cheyenne.  This one went together quite nicely, no seem ripper required!

Now, my holiday break is over - sigh - and I am heading back to work.  Nevertheless, I'm quite interested in these various quilt alongs I found which are just starting up.

Blogger Girls Block of the Month looks to be quite fun.  You can make it up as a 6 block quilt or a 12 block quilt by doing each block twice with radically different fabric placement.   This photo is of the finished quilt and is borrowed from Monique.  There are several bloggers making this quilt and posting with different fabric line choice .... those are the blogger girls!

A more modern quilt a long is from Gen X Quilters and called the Sisters 10 Block of the Month.   I like the fun look of these blocks and would do this one in solids if I decide to give it a try.  There are 10 blocks with this one, each released the first Friday of the month.

I have dabbled a bit in paper piecing and made a few orphan blocks.  I found this paper piece BOM that looks intriguing and challenging.  Kristy from a Quiet Play has assembled quite the nice sewing room themed quilt.  More experience with paper piecing is a goal for 2013 so this one fits the bill.

Heartspun Quilts is starting a 5 week quilt a long called Pocket Patchwork.  This one starts right away so I may follow allow on a delayed time table.

Country Threads is hosting a monthly quilt a long where you can choose to make a 12 inch and / or 6 inch block each month.  I like the idea of going scrappy.  This is the photo of the finished quilt.

While not a block of the month, Melissa of Sew BitterSweet Designs and Shanna of Fiber of All Sorts are hosting a Lovely Year of Finishes.   Link up each month with a project you intend to complete that month and then link up again to show you got it done!   I've got several projects in the stage to be finished so I may give this one a try.  The first link is now open so time to set the goals for January!

Happy Stitching!

  2. Heartspun Quilts, Country Threads and Blogger Girls Block of the Month all looked really interesting, so I think I'm going to try them as well. With Easy street coming to a close, I'll need some inspiration to do some quilting. Thanks for the suggestions. I hope I can keep up with all three of them! Your Easy Street blocks are looking good!

  3. I'm doing Kristy's paper pieced BOM too! Have just finished the first block which wasn't too challenging if you've done paper piecing before. Looking forward to trying some of the more intricate ones (I think!).

  4. I was thinking of doing easy street quarter size too. Thank you for showing how you're doing it. I'm more likely to finish if I keep the project small. I love the look of blogger girls block a month too. I think I'll finish some ufos first and then decide!
