Family.
At the roots of the tree are my grandparents.
The trunk is for my mom and dad. (See the cute heart carved into the tree?)
There are seven kids - all girls - so the tree has seven branches and then leaves for the 7 of us, our husbands and the collection of our 16 children.
Everything was appliqued on. The leaves have an extra layer of fusible batting to make them really pop. I used my machine to put all the names on the leaves as well as the years each of the families branched out.
I think the tree came out really amazing just in and of itself.
But adding the word family to the bottom, makes the quilt even better.
This quilt (wall hanging size) was a gift for my Mom and Dad for Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by.
A special thanks to Mdmn Samm and Linda for what is going to be a fantastic hop!!! Make sure you go visit the other lovely quilters I have the privilege to share the day with.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Tree! Wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteI think FAMILY is important to many of us and as we get older many of us realize how much more important it is. My mother and father were each only children - very rare for folks born in 1919 and 1920. My father absolutely became a son to my mom's parents, too. My great aunt lived in the house with my dad's parents all our lives, so it was as if we had five grandparens - two grandfathers and three grandmothers. Actually, our great aunt was more like a grandmother to us than her sister in many ways. So the three of us knew the importance of family. I love how you explain the branching out of the family. What a beautiful sentiment. I love the family tree.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea for a wall hanging. Thanks for sharing.
